Kolkata, 25th February, 2021: All Premier Division clubs have jointly come to a decision that the Calcutta Football League be skipped this season. Their decision was endorsed today by the IFA at a meeting where club representatives were present. The CFL, however, is likely to be resumed from the next season, starting from June 2021.

The league, which was supposed to be held in the June-August season 2020 got constantly delayed due to the Covid Pandemic, with no time-window being available for it now to be held this season.

That, however, hadn’t kept IFA from staging the 123rd IFA Shield and the Kanyashree Cup as part of its concerted move to reinvigorate football in West Bengal. These two tournaments were held in keeping with the Covid protocoals. The IFA’s commendable efforts towards this end is also evident in the fact that it is all set to stage the Uttarbanga Cup from the 28th of February, aiming to discover new footballing talents and help them create rewarding careers in football. In keeping with this heartening trend, the IFA will also hold Futsal, the mini version of the game, from the 16th of April this year.
