KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL: Gokulam Kerala started the game as clear favourites and in the starting minutes they played like they will surely find the back of the net. Gokulam Kerala played an incredibly good brand of football but was countered by United SC’s resilient defense. From a neutral perspective the game was electrifying with both the teams going at each other with everything they have got.
As the game went on it looked like Kerala might edge past United SC soon but the Calcutta based side stuck to their defensive policies and kept Kerala at bay. Kerala kept pushing and kept brining the game to United SC but was neutralized by the United SC’s defense.
After a string of good passes and a few missed chances, United SC’s Bright Middleton finds his way past the Kerala defense at the 85th minute and shocked everyone. The game ended 1-0 in United’s favour.
Tarak Hembram was named the man of the match and when asked about beating such a big team he said “The lads gave their best and it feels very good to be named the man of the match in such a big match. We look forward to going a long way in the league and maybe win it as well. Let’s see.”
United SC clearly the underdog will be facing BSS Sporting Club on 9th December at the Mohun Bagan Stadium.
