In a cliffhanger final, Bengal lost to Kerala 5-6 via a penalty shootout yesterday in the Santosh Trophy. After being locked goalless in full-time, Bengal shot ahead in the first half of extra-time before Kerala equalized in the same moiety. In the resultant penalty shootout, Bengal could score only four times while Kerala converted all to lift the trophy.

Bengal made short work of strong contenders Manipur to enter the final of Santosh Trophy football tournament. What was billed as a needle match for Bengal turned out to be a one-sided affair. Sujit Singh, Fardin Ali Molla, and Dilip Orawn scored at regular intervals to subdue Manipur.

Bengal routed Rajasthan 3-0 in a Santosh Trophy game today to cruise into the semifinals. Two goals were scored by Fardin Ali Molla and one by Surjit Singh. This was Bengal’s second successive win after they had lost unexpectedly to Kerala earlier. In their previous game, Bengal had defeated a spirited Meghalaya 4-3.

SSB Women lift Kanyashree Cup

SSB Womem FC edged out Southern Samity by a lone goal in the final to bag the coveted Kanyashree Cup 2021-22 trophy. The winner was scored by SSB’s striker Ranjita Devi.

Dulara Marandi of SSB was declared the player of the tournament.

Turning pre-tournament predictions upside down, Southern Samity today entered the final of Kanyashree Cup 2021-22 in their inaugural year of participation. They reached the final after blanking West Bengal Police 4-0 in the semifinal. Meena Khatun scored two goals while Ria Sukdev and Shivani top fired in one each.

SSB Women FC enter Kanyashree Final

SSB Women FC breezed past Kalighat S.L. 4-1 to enter the final of the Kanyashree Cup 2021-22 today. SSB shot into an early lead but Kalighat pulled one back in the crucial minute before half-time. On resumption, SSB scored two more goals to take the fight out of Kalighat. In the dying minutes of the game, the winners sealed the match with their fourth goal. Munesh Kumari scored two goals for SSB while her teammates Ranjita Devi and Anibalaa Devi scored one each. The lone goal for Kalighat was scored by Sonamoni Soren.

West Bengal Police down Chandni Sporting
