KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL: Indian Arrows the side full of Indian youth players faced the Calcutta based side Southern Samity at the Mohun Bagan Stadium. The game started well for both the teams as both sides fought hard to get past each other. As the game went on, both teams kept neutralizing each other.
At the 27th minute, Sujit Saren found the back of the Arrow’s net and gave his side the hard-earned lead. The went on as Arrows cranked up their attack and took the game to Southern Samity. Southern Samity kept defending and at the same time created good chances but was neutralized by the young Indian Arrows defense.
The second half started with the AIFF developmental side slowly taking control over the game. Southern Samity felt the pressure, thus they stuck to their defensive policies and kept Arrows at bay.
At the 79th minute, Gurkirat Singh dribbled past a the Southern Samity defense and equalized for the young side.
The game ended 1-1 with both teams sharing one point and Gurkirat Singh was named the man of the match. When asked about the equalizer he said, “We told ourselves to not be mentally down and if we keep pushing, we can get the goal and we did.”
