Hooghly recorded a facile 5-1 victory over Jalpaiguri to emerge the champions of the 82nd Jayanta Chatterjee Memorial Senior Inter-District Football Tournament today. The final played at the Chakdah Stadium turned out to be a one-sided affair and whatever promise Jalpaiguri had displayed earlier in the tournament turned out to be a damp squib. Rahul Paswan scored two goals for Hooghly, with his teammates Rabilal Mandi, Bikram Khan, and Dipesh Murmu firing in one each. The lone scorer for Jalpaiguri was Biki Jamader.
Rahul Paswan bagged the Best Forward of the tournament trophy. The Best Goalkeeper award was also won by Hooghly due to the stellar performance of their custodian Sangramjit Roy Chowdhury.
Kunal Mangar of Jalpaiguri was adjudged the Man of the Tournament.
